Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer Lead to conceptualize and design automated equipment according to customer and internal specifications. The successful candidate will be capable of leading mechanical engineering projects of various sizes, including large multi-module systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design cam, servo, and air-operated stations and make changes to existing designs.
  • Execute cam (drive) design.
  • Ensure the design is functional, robust, and cost-effective.
  • Innovate and use good judgment to incorporate ATS Life Sciences Chicago standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Research and specify appropriate materials and purchased components.
  • Create detail drawings, assembly drawings, bill of materials, organize release packages, and update drawings.
  • Participate in internal and customer design reviews.
  • Prepare pneumatic and timing diagrams and select appropriate sensors.
  • Work with suppliers to find/develop the most functional and economical solutions to design issues.
  • Work under the confines of the project schedule and budget.
  • Problem-solve design or detail issues and update all appropriate documentation.
  • Communicate ideas and comprehend information both verbally and in written form.
Requirements
  • A college degree in mechanical engineering, engineering-related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Six (6+) or more years of automation experience.
  • Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD, 3D Solid Works, or similar CAD systems.
  • Proficient with computers, including programs such as AutoCAD, Solid Works, Microsoft Office suite, etc.
  • Able to operate fax machines, copiers, printers/plotters, etc.
  • Proficient with inspection and measuring tools such as scales, calipers, micrometers, etc.
