St. Luke's Health System is seeking a skilled and compassionate Device Registered Nurse to join our team at the Boise Heart Clinic. As a Device Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing expert care and treatment of heart arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation.
About the Role:- Provide thorough, competent interrogations and reprogramming of cardiac devices implanted in patients, including pacemakers, implantable loop recorders, and implantable cardiac defibrillators.
- Enroll patients in device management systems and perform device interrogations in outpatient settings as well as remotely monitored patients.
- Triage patients for remote alert notifications and perform telephone triage for cardiac patients and device question phone calls.
- Assist cardiologists in managing device recalls and alerts, and liaison with cardiac device company representatives regarding device upgrades, recalls, and alerts.
- Accurately identify malfunctions, alerts, and sub-optimal device operations and follow appropriate protocols with making programming changes and notifying physicians.
- Complete initial interrogations, report generation, charges, and documentation in the Electronic Health Record and Device Management Systems, and bring acute/urgent issues to the attention of providers.
- Perform incisions/wound assessments on new device patients and remove stitches/staples as appropriate.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, electrophysiologists, advanced practitioners, cardiac device technologists, and other members of the patient care team to achieve optimal clinical outcomes.
- Provide education to patients and their significant other regarding basic pacemaker function, follow-up care needed, medications, process steps for in-clinic visits and remote device transmissions, and other clinical care needs.
- Nursing degree
- 1 year's experience
- Current RN licensure from the State of Practice
- ECG, arrhythmia/dysrhythmia knowledge
- Effective communicator and excellent critical thinking skills needed
