Position Summary
The Breast Ultrasound Technician is responsible for conducting screening and diagnostic ultrasound examinations with exceptional image quality. The technician must adhere to physician protocols, ensure proper patient positioning for accurate imaging, and proficiently operate all breast imaging ultrasound equipment. Patient safety during examinations is paramount, and the technician may need to assist patients with mobility challenges. This role involves performing sonographic evaluations as requested by referring physicians, aiming to deliver outstanding service and patient care in a serene setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately identify anatomical orientation on all required images and ensure proper file identification.
- Exhibit proficiency in executing all diagnostic ultrasound procedures and operating related equipment.
- Welcome patients, gather medical history, and input data into the electronic system.
- Conduct scans in accordance with established guidelines and protocols.
- Maintain logs and manage paperwork for biopsy procedures.
- Review patient charts and requisitions to confirm appropriate room setup and identify any medical concerns.
- Utilize sterile techniques to prevent contamination.
- Oversee all clinical aspects of the ultrasound suite, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
- Scrutinize upcoming patient schedules to verify orders and ensure prior images are available.
- Maintain current CPR certification.
- Provide coverage as necessary during staff absences or increased patient volumes.
- Enhance the patient experience by sharing information about procedures and follow-up requirements.
- Maintain open communication with radiologists, physicians, patients, and their families.
- Consistently produce diagnostic-quality images without the need for additional acquisitions; perform quality assurance on images and equipment.
- Pursue continuing education to meet licensure requirements.
- Keep licensure in good standing.
- Assist with inventory management and stocking of supplies.
- Help maintain cleanliness in shared spaces.
- Perform laundry duties as needed.

- Independent Sonographer with expertise in Breast imaging.
- BLS Certification.
