Position Overview

The Benefits Administrator is responsible for the daily management, promotion, and assessment of the benefit programs at Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center (CCOC) for current, former, and retired staff members.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborates with the Benefits Manager to ensure adherence to all regulations impacting benefits, institutional policies, and the stipulations of Benefit Plan Documents/Certificates. Provides assistance by developing, executing, interpreting, and disseminating benefit policies and procedures throughout the organization and with external vendors/brokers.

Oversees all elements of two Workers' Compensation Policies. This includes evaluating the Employee First Report of Injury, scrutinizing and tracking claims managed by the Third Party Administrator (TPA), participating in mediation/hearings on behalf of Crystal Clinic, and liaising with legal counsel.

Manages employee injury reporting, guarantees thorough investigations of incidents, and aids leadership in implementing safety improvements. Acts as a member of the Emergency Management (Safety) Committee.

Administers absence and disability management, ensuring compliance with FMLA and Crystal Clinic's Leave of Absence Policies. Effectively communicates with employees and keeps leadership informed about the status of leaves. Ensures that the HRIS is updated accurately and invoices employees for any missed benefit premiums. Oversees the Transitional Work Program (TWP) and coordinates return-to-work arrangements with restrictions.

Identifies when ADA Accommodations may be required and manages the process through to resolution.

Determines eligibility for and processes all midyear benefit modifications due to qualifying events, changes in employment status, and/or Medical Support Orders.

Maintains employee records and dependent eligibility within HRIS and with vendors. Manages, reconciles, and addresses inquiries regarding all benefit, 401(k), and wellness plans/programs. Assists with Open Enrollment and monthly vendor invoicing as necessary and directed.

Must uphold confidentiality regarding patient, physician/employee, and financial information.

Possesses a strong understanding of business mathematics. Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Capable of preparing written communications, generating ad hoc reports, and compiling multiple spreadsheets in Excel. Must demonstrate accountability, attention to detail, analytical thinking, and excellent problem-solving skills.

Keeps the Benefits Manager apprised of significant issues.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED required. An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resource Administration, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.

Experience: Three to Five (3-5) years of experience in benefits administration is highly preferred. Previous experience in Workers Compensation is advantageous.

Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word, with advanced proficiency in Excel required. Experience with an HRIS is essential. Familiarity with UKG Ready is a plus.
