Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Staff Today Inc in Vacaville, California. This is a registry position with competitive pay.

Salary: $38 per hour

About the Job:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of experience within the last 36 months as a Respiratory Care Practitioner and be able to build rapport with patients. The successful candidate will also have a compassionate and caring demeanor, familiarity with medical terminology, and a valid and current CPR card (American Heart Association). Additionally, they must have up-to-date credentials in the state of California.

Responsibilities:

  1. Identify breath sounds, recognize abnormal breath sounds, recognize abnormal arterial blood gases, identify amount and character of secretions, determine need for supplemental oxygen/suction
  2. Report changes in patient's status to charge nurse or physician and staff caring for patient
  3. Document Respiratory Care consistent with hospital charting standards
  4. Comply with hospital policy for receiving doctor's orders, including verbal and phone
  5. Accurately give report to oncoming shift
  6. Report extraordinary patient problems to supervisor, director or administrator as necessary
  7. Comply with hospital policies and procedures for selected precautions, i.e.; seizure, suicide
  8. Use principles of body mechanics in mobilizing patient or objects
  9. Ask for help when lifting heavy patients
  10. Comply with policies for restraints
  11. Comply with policies for electrical safety
  12. Check the Emergency Equipment policy
  13. Incorporate infection control principles in practice
  14. Demonstrate skills related to the management of emergency situations
  15. Comply with policy for cardio-pulmonary arrest
  16. Demonstrate competency for ABG drawing and sampling
  17. Demonstrate competency for Quality Control and ABG analyzers

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience within the last 36 months (3yrs) as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • Ability to build rapport with patients
  • Compassionate and caring demeanor
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • A valid and current CPR card (American Heart Association)
  • Must have up to date credentials in the state of California
