Responsibilities:Conducts, documents, and ensures compliance with calibration, maintenance, quality control, and performance evaluations of all Radiation Oncology equipment, adhering to State, Federal, and JCAHO regulations to maintain licensure.
Collaborates with, advises, and supervises treatment planning and dosimetry, ensuring accuracy in prescription calculations and promptly notifying physicians of any discrepancies.Regularly reviews, updates, and formally assesses policies and procedures on an annual basis, while adhering to established guidelines regarding departmental and hospital protocols, quality control, radiation safety, and infection control.
Provides in-service training and continuing education lectures on radiation safety and the implementation of new techniques, serving as a knowledgeable resource for staff.
Advises and collaborates with department supervisors and radiation oncologists to ensure continuous patient safety and quality care.
Generates treatment plans utilizing computer isodose planning or manual calculations to achieve optimal tumor volume coverage as specified in physician prescriptions, and performs specific dose calculations upon request.
May serve as the facility's Radiation Safety Officer.Oversees all aspects of brachytherapy.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. or Master's Degree in Medical Physics or DMP Degree is required.
Board eligibility in Therapeutic Medical Physics is required.
Licensure in the state of practice is required.
Five (5) years of experience in Medical Physics is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
