As a Printing Press Assistant, you will be an integral part of our Day Shift, which operates from 7 AM to 7 PM on a rotating schedule of 4 days on and 4 days off.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in changing gears and cylinders.
- Support the cleaning of ink stations and prepare them for subsequent orders.
- Prepare mill rolls for press operations.
- Manage the removal, preparation, and storage of finished rolls.
- Monitor and adjust ink pH and viscosity levels.
- Wash and store plates from previous jobs, applying green-back as necessary.
- Prepare plates and gears on the appropriate cylinders for upcoming orders.
- Ensure the availability of the correct ink and paper for the next production run.
- Gather pump washes and cleaning supplies for the next changeover.
- Provide assistance to press operators as required.
- Be ready to step in as an operator when necessary.
- Collaborate with team members and participate in all press department activities.
- Adhere to all plant and safety regulations.
- Assist in training new team members.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Associate's Degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
- Two to three years of relevant work experience is advantageous.
- Completion of Safety Orientation, Departmental Safety Training, and OSHA Standards Training is mandatory.
- Experience with computers and other business equipment is essential.
- This role requires annual completion of Hazardous Waste Management training, provided by Ampac Holdings, LLC.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary.
- Good organizational abilities are important.
