Position Summary

As an Echocardiography Specialist, you will be responsible for executing daily clinical operations in Echocardiography, which includes performing echocardiograms, entering preliminary interpretations, and covering various sites and shifts, including on-call duties.



Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and emergency echocardiograms, including 2-dimensional, 3-dimensional, Doppler, Transesophageal, and Stress Echocardiograms, as per physician requests and established standards.
  • Provide echocardiography services across all necessary locations, working flexible shifts, weekends, and on-call as scheduled.
  • Operate and maintain echocardiography equipment, ensuring optimal diagnostic recordings and performing routine maintenance.
  • Analyze patient medical records to gather relevant history and information for diagnostic procedures.
  • Prepare preliminary reports for Cardiologist review, including comparisons with previous studies.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives, evaluating technical quality and accuracy of procedures, while maintaining appropriate logs and records.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and educational activities to foster professional growth.
  • Assist physicians with echocardiography-guided studies to enhance procedural safety.
  • Act as a mentor for new staff, providing orientation and in-service education.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental objectives and quality assurance initiatives.

Qualifications

Education
Completion of a program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds required registry or certification.

Experience
No additional experience required beyond educational and certification prerequisites. Level I candidates must obtain ARDMS certifications within 18 months of employment. Level II candidates require a minimum of two years' experience as a Sonographer. Level III candidates should have at least four years' experience in their specialty modality.

Licenses and Certifications
ARDMS/CCI certification in Echocardiography, ARDMS/CCI certification within 18 months of hire, and BLS certification.
