Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Vascular Technologist to join our team at The GW Medical Faculty Associates. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures using high-frequency ultrasound waves and plethysmography.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and emergency Duplex ultrasound and peripheral arterial/venous testing as requested by physicians.
  • Conduct routine and complex ambulatory monitoring studies as requested by physicians and in accordance with standard practices.
  • Operate equipment necessary to perform all required procedures and obtain optimal diagnostic recordings.
  • Analyze patient medical records to obtain history of symptoms and necessary information for performance of diagnostic procedures.
  • Prepare patient records for review and interpretation by physicians.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patients, employees, and corporation-related activities.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, including evaluating procedure results and maintaining logs and records.
  • Maintain equipment in working order and report any malfunctions to the department manager.
  • Order and stock necessary supplies.
  • Instruct students, nurses, or other allied health personnel as requested.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Certification as a Registered Vascular Sonographer/Technologist.
  • Board eligibility and agreement to complete board certification in Vascular Imaging (RVT/RVS) within 18 months of initial hire.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience.
  • Strong knowledge and ability to instruct others in vascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in Doppler and color flow Doppler, and 2 years of experience in other procedures (ABI, segmental pressures, segmental waveforms, transcutaneous oxygen measurements).
