Penn State Health is seeking a highly skilled Surgical First Assistant to join our team in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania.
The successful candidate will provide direct patient care as part of the operating room team, assisting the operating surgeon with wound exposure, maintaining hemostasis, and manipulating tissues with surgical instrumentation.
Responsibilities- Assist the operating surgeon in providing direct patient care
- Provide wound exposure and maintain hemostasis
- Manipulate tissues with surgical instrumentation
- Collaborate with the operating room team to ensure smooth and efficient surgical procedures
- Associates Degree required
- NBSTSA CST Certification required
- BLS Certification required
- Three (3) years relevant experience
- Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) certification
- Individual must provide evidence of one of the following: Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program and maintains a Surgical Technologist certification; new graduates of accredited surgical tech programs may obtain certification within six months of graduation. Completion of an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the US Army, Navy, or Air force. Previously employed to practice surgical technology by the hiring Penn State Health (PSH) health care facility on or before December 29, 2020, or had been employed to practice surgical technology as the primary function at another healthcare facility at any time during the two years prior to December 29, 2022.
- NBSTSA CSFA Certification preferred
