Infection Control Specialist

The Infection Control Specialist plays a crucial role in safeguarding the health of individuals, staff, and visitors by developing and executing comprehensive infection prevention strategies.
Key Responsibilities:- Policy Development: Formulates and enforces policies and procedures aimed at minimizing infection risks through continuous monitoring.
- Surveillance: Conducts thorough investigations and reports on infection occurrences, ensuring proper assessment and maintenance of personal protective equipment.
- Risk Assessment: Designs, implements, and evaluates infection control risk assessments based on evidence-based practices.
- Environmental Oversight: Performs regular environmental surveillance rounds to identify potential infection cases and supervise isolation practices.
- Communication: Alerts healthcare providers about individuals exposed to infectious diseases and ensures adherence to infection control standards.
- Research and Analysis: Compiles clinical data and contributes to research initiatives focused on infection control effectiveness.
- Collaboration: Works closely with public health entities and regulatory agencies to report and investigate infectious disease incidents.
- Education: Plans and administers vaccination programs, ensuring compliance with immunization schedules for both individuals and staff.
- Record Keeping: Maintains accurate records of health assessments and screenings.
Required: Must possess a valid New York State nursing license and current registration as a registered professional nurse, along with three years of clinical nursing experience, including at least one year focused on infection control program management.
Substitutions:
- A bachelor's degree in nursing may replace one year of clinical experience.
- A master's degree in nursing may replace two years of clinical experience.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) may substitute for one year of infection control experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Compensation: $107, $118,252.00 annually
