Job Summary:

The Dietary Department Clerk position at RWJBarnabas Health is responsible for processing diet orders, menus, and production tallies for the facility. This role assists on the patient tray line during meal service and holds additional cafeteria duties. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of food service experience, with basic knowledge of normal and therapeutic nutrition.

Key Responsibilities:

Answers telephones, taking messages and relaying information as necessary
Assists patients and families with menu selections and offers menu substitutions as appropriate
Assists with patient tray line and delivers patient trays as per identification safety goals
Communicates with dietitian regarding patient food preferences and identifies patient high risk menus
Completes meal tally for each prepared meal and notifies cooks of special items to be prepared
Coordinate all aspects of menu preparation in accordance with patient meal schedule
Corrects modified menus in conjunction with physician diet order
Maintains adequate menu supply
Prepares production reports and generates to appropriate areas
Processes Cerner diet orders
Performs all other duties as assigned
