Per Diem Medical Assistant

Under the supervision of physicians and clinicians, this Per Diem Medical Assistant will provide patient care duties in a clinical environment. The ideal candidate will promote efficient patient flow and care, perform clinic support tasks, and maintain a high level of professionalism.
Responsibilities- Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as needed.
- Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Obtain necessary patient records as required by physicians prior to treatment or procedures.
- Prepare equipment and examination rooms, and clean instruments.
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners with exams and procedures as requested.
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection following established protocols.
- Handle blood specimens with meticulous attention to labeling and safety standards.
- Properly process laboratory specimens and prepare them for collection or analysis.
- Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN, NP, or physician.
- Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
- Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
- Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
- Inform physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
- Perform other administrative duties, such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants required.
- This is an entry-level position requiring 0-3 years' experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
- Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
- Certified Medical Assistant required.
