Job Summary:
The State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is seeking a highly skilled and experienced AMHS Dispatch Manager to lead our team in coordinating smooth operations and ensuring the efficient movement of Alaska's vital marine routes. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising the Dispatchers who schedule, coordinate, and dispatch licensed and unlicensed employees serving on ferries operated by the AMHS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize, direct, and coordinate the daily operations of the Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS) Dispatch Center.
- Supervise the Dispatchers who schedule, coordinate, and dispatch licensed and unlicensed employees serving on ferries operated by the AMHS.
- Oversee all vessel manning, records, training, licensing, and qualifications for marine personnel for the AMHS fleet.
- Provide weekly crew status reports, forecast future crewing needs, and develop the AMHS recruitment and retention strategies.
- Develop policies, objectives, and standards for crewing, as well as create plans for upward and/or lateral mobility of vessel crews.
Requirements:
- Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, human resources, labor relations, procurement, public administration, or a closely related field.
- Progressively responsible experience scheduling and dispatching workers, work crews, equipment, and/or service vehicles.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
