Job Summary

As a Dietitian PRN at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, you will play a vital role in assessing the nutrition status of patients and developing personalized care plans to address identified nutrition diagnoses. You will work closely with healthcare teams to provide nutrition education and counseling to patients, families, and caregivers, and train dietetic interns and other students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess nutrition status and implement care plans to address identified nutrition diagnoses for patients with common medical conditions.
  • Monitor nutrition progress and reassess nutrition status of patients/clients with common medical conditions, adjusting the care plan as needed.
  • Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients, families, and caregivers, using evidence-based practice guidelines and instructional methods.
  • Train dietetic interns and other students by planning, implementing, and evaluating clinical experiences and/or teaching classes.
Technical Capabilities
  • Nutrition Therapy: Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to demonstrate nutrition therapy in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
  • Patient Counseling: Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to demonstrate patient counseling in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
  • Dietetic Patient Assessment: Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to demonstrate the ability to assess patients in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
  • Evidence-Based Nutrition Practice: Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to search for nutrition evidence to answer clinical questions.
Core Accountabilities
  • Delivers job responsibilities that impact own job area/team with some guidance.
  • Uses existing procedures, research, and analysis to solve standard job-related problems that may require some judgment.
  • Requires subject matter knowledge within a professional area to meet job requirements.
  • Individually contributes to project/work teams.
Position Qualifications
  • Certifications: LIC-Licensed Dietician/Nutritionist - Tennessee, Registered Dietician - Commision on Dietetic Registration.
  • Work Experience: Relevant work experience with less than 1 year of experience.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree.
