Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of the School of Continuing Education and/or Program Coordinator, the CDL Training Instructor will prepare course materials, class seminars, and in-class skill-building activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and instructing training classes for clients of the School of Continuing Education
  • Delivering high-quality instruction in area of expertise
  • Recognizing and responding to students from culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Working basic audio/video equipment for presentations
  • Administering, collecting, and returning class sign-in sheets and evaluations
  • Reporting any issues or problems to the Program Coordinator

Requirements include:

  • Associate of Science Degree or Industry Certification(s) in discipline(s) and/or five (5) years' experience in the industry
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred
  • A valid Class A CDL Florida driver's license, and safe driving record for past two (2) years
  • Industry credentials/certifications or training directly related to the accelerated skill courses taught
  • Minimum of two (2) years of practical trucking-related experience that demonstrates instructional competency

This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools.
