As a key member of our surgical team, the Perioperative Nurse will provide high-quality patient care in the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative settings. This role requires strong clinical skills, effective communication, and a commitment to ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Responsibilities:- Direct and provide professional perioperative nursing care for assigned patients across the age continuum.
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative settings.
- May serve as a charge nurse, providing supervision and guidance to other team members as directed.
- Float to other patient care areas as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Take call for weekdays, weekends, and holidays as assigned on a rotating basis.
- Current RN licensure in the State of Texas.
- BLS certification, renewed every 2 years prior to expiration.
- ACLS and PALS certification required within 6 months of employment, with renewal every 2 years prior to expiration.
- Ability to relate and work effectively with others, demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards.
- Previous PACU, ambulatory care, critical care, or general nursing experience is preferred.
The Perioperative Nurse will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with exposure to limited amounts of radiation, hazardous chemicals or substances, and infectious disease processes. The ability to work irregular or extended hours due to the requirements of the daily surgical schedule is essential.
OSHA Exposure Classification:Job Classification I: Direct contact with blood or other body fluids to which universal precautions apply. Personal protective equipment is made available and must be worn.
