Key Responsibilities
The Retail Sales Supervisor is tasked with delivering outstanding customer service and exemplifying best practices in sales and service.
In collaboration with the Store Manager, the Retail Sales Supervisor will oversee daily operations and take on a leadership role, sharing insights, communicating objectives, and managing daily activities.
The primary responsibilities include:
- Achieving Results: The Retail Sales Supervisor must be knowledgeable about all aspects of store performance and metrics; in the absence of the Store Manager, they will set objectives. They will drive sales, oversee customer interactions, maintain high service standards, and execute opening and closing procedures as per company guidelines. The Supervisor will support team members through knowledge sharing and coaching to ensure customer satisfaction remains the top priority while managing tasks effectively.
- Customer Engagement and Product Expertise: Actively engage with customers to understand their needs, build relationships, and share product insights. Collaborate closely with store management to enhance the customer experience and broaden product knowledge to drive sales.
- Operational Excellence: Ensure that both the sales floor and stockroom are maintained in a clean, organized manner daily. The Supervisor will have access to store funds and inventory and will be accountable for adhering to procedures and maintaining accurate records. Participate in and lead the processing of shipments, restocking the sales floor, and other operational tasks.
- Merchandising: Utilize company standards to make effective merchandising decisions and ensure the store meets those standards.
- Training and Development: Assist in onboarding new staff by providing training in customer service and operational procedures. Support the Store Manager in implementing new policies, operational changes, and training initiatives. Participate in the introduction of new technologies and training as needed.
- Accountability: Holding oneself and others accountable for meeting commitments.
- Effective Communication: Employ various communication methods to clearly convey the needs of diverse audiences.
- Customer-Centric Approach: Identify opportunities and create solutions that align with customer expectations, fostering lasting relationships.
- Business Acumen: Apply knowledge of business operations and market trends to support organizational goals, utilizing insights into sales drivers and strategies.
- Quality Decision-Making: Make timely and sound decisions that propel the organization forward.
- Training Others: Aid store management in executing training programs and development plans for sales personnel.
- Resilience: Demonstrate the ability to recover from setbacks and navigate challenging situations.
- Preferred: Two or more years of experience in a sales leadership role.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and planning skills, along with effective management, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with technology is required; experience with computer-based training is preferred.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, evenings, and weekends.
- Must be proficient in all duties and competencies outlined above.
