Opportunity

The primary focus of the Senior Mechanical Engineer for Kitchen Products is to create innovative consumer solutions as part of a highly collaborative, cross-disciplinary team. The Engineer must merge creativity, robust technical expertise, collaborative leadership, and business insight to transition designs from initial idea to production.

We are seeking a candidate who:

  • Adopts a constructive mindset and collaborates with cross-functional teams, including marketing, program management, industrial design, and manufacturing operations to ensure timely and budget-conscious project delivery.
  • Is driven by a passion for innovation and self-motivated to explore concepts and develop transformative products.
  • Exhibits proven abilities in ideation and creative design, with a preference for candidates skilled in CAD design and advanced prototyping.
  • Demonstrates strong mechanical understanding and has established a personal engineering design methodology.
  • Comprehends manufacturing limitations across a wide array of materials and processes, including casting, forging, stamping, injection molding, welding, machining, fabricating, tube bending, hydroforming, and plating.
  • Is adept at assessing complex designs and utilizes creative problem-solving skills for continuous optimization.
  • Can effectively coordinate efforts across diverse regions and cultures within a global engineering framework.

Key Responsibilities

Creation

  • Collaborate with Industrial Design and Product Marketing to establish product specifications informed by consumer research, market insights, and sales feedback.
  • Analyze competitive products and review current warranty metrics to benchmark new product designs.
  • Conduct high-level feasibility assessments on initial product concepts.

Refinement

  • Develop and enhance concepts utilizing 3D modeling software (Creo), FEA, and CFD.
  • Utilize our state-of-the-art on-site prototyping and testing facilities to create physical prototypes that validate product features.
  • Assess product value through consumer and/or human experience research.
  • Collaborate with our internal manufacturing team and suppliers to balance cost, performance, quality, and project timelines.

Implementation

  • Execute engineering calculations, tolerance stacks, and produce detailed technical drawings, adhering to engineering standards and GD&T.
  • Enhance design using DfM (Design for Manufacturing) principles to ensure reliable, stable, and efficient mass production.
  • Guarantee regulatory compliance through meticulous product verification test planning.
  • Support manufacturing ramp-up by providing on-site feedback during pre-production builds.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 4 years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • Proficient in CAD modeling.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and domestically as required.

The salary range for this position is $89,800 - $114,100. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by various factors including the candidate's experience, education, and work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401k.
