Job Summary

Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital is seeking a skilled Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and services to our diverse patient population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the delivery of patient care and services to diverse patient population and their families.
  • Perform EKGs and collect lab specimens under direction of the licensed nurse and/or provider.
  • Conduct hourly rounding to ensure patient needs are met and record data established by policy and procedure.
  • Report observations and patient problems to the licensed nurse and/or provider.
  • Practice Patient and Family Centered Care in concert with Houston Methodist Experience standards.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • Completion of EMT-A, EMT-Paramedic program or licensed Paramedic, and/or currently participating in an EMT to Paramedic program with classification of an EMT-Advanced.
  • EMT-A - Emergency Medical Technician-Advanced - State Licensure.
  • EMT-P - Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic - State Licensure.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA).
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA).
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (AHA).
  • NVCRISIS - Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
Work Environment

This position is located at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, a 150-bed acute care hospital serving the Fort Bend County and surrounding areas.
