Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of regulated establishments to ensure adherence to environmental regulations.

  • Review applications and supporting materials to verify compliance with operational permits.
  • Initiate enforcement actions by drafting notices of non-compliance.
  • Investigate reports of improper disposal and handling of biomedical waste.
  • Develop educational materials and provide training sessions for facility staff.
  • Inspect body piercing and tanning establishments to confirm compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Perform additional related duties as necessary.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of fundamental principles of environmental health or related sciences.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications relevant to the role.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data pertaining to environmental health.
  • Capability to interpret and apply relevant regulations and policies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications:

Must possess a valid driver's license and a bachelor's degree in a physical or natural science from an accredited institution, including a minimum of 30 semester hours or 40 quarter hours in relevant coursework. Access to a personal vehicle for work-related travel is required. The incumbent must achieve certification as an Environmental Health Professional within six months of employment.
