Excavation Equipment Specialist

Position Overview:
As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various heavy machinery, including excavators, front loaders, and bulldozers, to manage and transport waste materials.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate heavy machinery to efficiently load and transport waste materials.
• Conduct daily inspections and maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Perform lubrication and fluid checks on machinery as required.
• Steer and control equipment using various mechanisms, including steering wheels and pedals, at designated sites.
• Provide coverage for absent operators as necessary to maintain workflow.
• Regularly clean and maintain the equipment to ensure operational safety and efficiency.
• Utilize two-way radios for effective communication with team members regarding work tasks and priorities.
• Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies while performing duties.
• Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the work environment.
• Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
• Carry out additional job-related tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not mandatory.
• Forklift certification is required.
• Ability to obtain necessary certifications for Transfer Station/Landfill Operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Capable of applying logical reasoning to address various operational challenges.
• Proficient in basic mathematical functions and able to interpret equipment gauges.
• Must possess the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Physical capability to frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Physical and Mental Demands:
• Ability to perform a variety of physical tasks, including standing, walking, and using hands and fingers.
• Visual acuity is necessary for close and distance vision, as well as depth perception.
• Must be able to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to noise, weather, and mechanical hazards.
Working Conditions:
• Regular exposure to loud noise and outdoor weather conditions.
• Work primarily conducted in outdoor settings within heavy machinery cabs, with exposure to various elements.
• Occasionally required to work at heights or in challenging positions.
