Job Summary

MCSS is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lifeguard Supervisor to join our team. As a Lifeguard Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of swimmers and enforcing pool rules and regulations. You will also supervise lifeguards, perform rescue work, and provide emergency first aid when necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Protect swimmers from hazardous conditions by enforcing safety and pool rules and regulations.
  • Supervise lifeguards and ensure they are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties.
  • Perform rescue work, including water and land rescues, and provide emergency first aid when necessary.
  • Manage respiratory and cardiac emergencies, including performing CPR, bag-valve-mask resuscitation, and automatic external defibrillation (AED).
  • Use and maintain care of emergency equipment, including specialized kits and rescue bags.
  • Control external bleeding and treat shock.
  • Teach various swimming skills and water safety for all age groups.
  • Prepare material for classes being taught and ensure the safety of all patrons in the class.
  • Responsible for solving any problems related to work and keeping the Assistant Manager informed of any issues.
  • Assist in the training of assigned lifeguards and recreational swimming instructors.
  • Administer swim tests and schedule use of lanes and pool space for patrons.
  • Operate Rec Trac, monitor cashiers, and ensure they are properly trained in the use of Rec Trac and proper cash handling procedures.
  • Ensure funds are collected, receipts are verified, and deposits are made daily.
  • Responsible for the supervision and safety of the aquatics staff, including assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, training, and mentoring employees.
  • Promptly report safety hazards to the immediate supervisor and complete incident reports as necessary.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in aquatic recreational activities.
  • One year of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use and perform maintenance of pool equipment.
  • Understanding of and the ability to enforce rigid safety regulations to ensure maximum protection of swimmers.
  • Must have knowledge of pool water chemistry and ability to use equipment to take pool readings.
  • Current or able to obtain within 30 days of hire nationally recognized certifications: Lifeguard training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent, Standard First Aid or equivalent.
  • Current or able to obtain within 6 months of hire a nationally recognized certification as a Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Instructor or equivalent.
  • Must be able to pass an initial and recurrent physical ability test to include swimming, treading, and a timed brick retrieval.
  • Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries and State Criminal History Repository Check (Tier 1) with Childcare background checks which are required for positions that involve working with children under 18 years of age.
  • Must have valid driver's license and be able to obtain/maintain Government Owned Vehicle (GOV) operator's permit to travel between camps as required.
