Senior Lab Assistant Job Description

LabCorp is seeking a highly skilled Senior Lab Assistant to work in a high-volume, production-based environment in Raritan, NJ. This role plays a vital component in clinical lab science, requiring attention to detail and the ability to multitask.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and sort clinical lab specimens with precision and accuracy
  • Prepare specimens for testing and analysis, adhering to established protocols
  • Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information with high accuracy
  • Troubleshoot any specimen-related issues, ensuring timely resolution
  • Replenish test bench supplies as needed to maintain a smooth workflow
  • Maintain Turn-Around-Time (TAT) requirements set forth by leadership, ensuring efficient specimen processing
  • Follow through on problem resolution of samples to completion, ensuring quality standards are met
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested, ensuring accurate documentation

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with 1 year of relevant experience required
  • Previous medical/lab or production experience is preferred, with prior knowledge of specimen acceptability a plus
  • Comfortability with handling biological specimens, with the ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills, with a high level of attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment, meeting established turn-around times and maintaining a high level of productivity
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods, with flexibility to work overtime as needed
  • Must pass a standardized color blindness test, ensuring visual acuity and color perception meet job requirements
