Clinical Nurse Educator

Position Overview:
The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing educational programs for Registered Nurses (RNs) within the organization.

This role includes orienting new nurses to their responsibilities within the healthcare team and assessing their performance through competency evaluations to ensure they possess the necessary skills and knowledge for effective patient care.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Active nursing license in Florida or a valid multistate/compact license.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience.
  • Preferred experience of at least one (1) year with Chapters Health System.
  • Certification from HPNA must be obtained within two (2) years of assuming the role.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance as per company policy.
  • Reliable transportation to fulfill visit requirements.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems is essential.
  • Proficient in using equipment that requires visual and auditory skills.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Flexible availability to accommodate the needs of patients in hospice care.
  • Ability to navigate various home environments, including stairs and confined spaces.
  • Capacity to manage the emotional challenges of working with terminally ill patients and their families.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including physical tasks such as lifting and moving patients or equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must maintain good standing in performance evaluations related to nursing services.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers from a recognized organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete the Preceptor Training Program and any required updates.
  • Introduce new RNs to the team and work environment.
  • Assist new RNs in identifying their learning styles and educational needs.
  • Plan and deliver relevant learning experiences aligned with care standards and organizational values.
  • Foster critical thinking and clinical judgment through appropriate adult learning methodologies.
  • Ensure safe patient care by adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Orient RNs to their roles and performance expectations in hospice or home health settings.
  • Collaborate with management to validate RN competencies in care performance and documentation, providing constructive feedback for improvement.
  • Submit timely documentation related to the preceptor experience to management and training departments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

The following physical abilities are necessary to perform the essential functions of this role: visual acuity, auditory skills, verbal communication, mobility, and manual dexterity.


Frequently Required:
Standing, sitting, reaching, lifting, bending, and balancing.

Occasionally Required:
Pulling, pushing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and climbing stairs.
