Job Title: 2nd Shift Diesel Mechanic

Kenworth Northeast is a leading truck dealership in the northeast region, providing top-notch heavy and medium-duty trucks and parts. We are seeking an experienced and reliable 2nd Shift Diesel Mechanic to join our Buffalo, NY team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Diesel Mechanic to perform a wide variety of maintenance duties to keep our customers' trucks on the road. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1-2 years of hands-on experience and on-the-job training in a related mechanical field.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform and assist in the performance of general mechanical duties
  • Diagnose transmission or clutch failures, differential failures; repair or replace as needed
  • Work on major components with close supervision; perform troubleshooting on minor problems such as basic check engine lights and symptoms on MX and Cummins products using EDS and Diagnostic Assistant
  • Basic wiring troubleshooting and repairs
  • Perform diagnostics on HVAC systems, replace parts as needed
  • Able to remove and replace external engine components such as exhaust manifolds, EGR coolers & valves
  • Able to replace fuel injectors and perform overhead valve and injector adjustments & tune-up
  • Proficient with welding, torch cutting and fabrication
  • Work on major components with close supervision; perform troubleshooting on minor problems
  • Attends training sessions and meetings
  • Maintains a neat and orderly working area, and proper handling of company tools
  • Advises the Shop Foreman if additional repair work is necessary
  • Follows safe work practices and procedures, uses safety equipment when required, responds to suggestions for working safely and seeks assistance when necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements:
  • Minimum 1-2 years hands-on experience and on-the-job training in a related mechanical field; graduate of vocational courses or equivalent experience and training
  • Experience in truck dealership preferred but not required
  • A/C and Brake experience
  • CAT Engine experience preferred but not required
  • MX Engine experience preferred
  • Cummins Engine experience preferred
  • Electrical experience
  • Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities
  • CDL preferred, but not required
