Role Overview: Literacy Specialist

We are seeking part-time Literacy Specialists to deliver in-person assistance to students with diverse learning profiles. The ideal candidate will possess experience in supporting students with dyslexia and be familiar with the Lindamood-Bell methodology. This part-time role provides flexible hours during the day, afternoon, or early evening, with a manageable caseload of up to twelve students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Individualized Support: Deliver personalized 1:1 in-person and/or online coaching utilizing the WHILDE Method to accommodate learners of all ages.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive session documentation.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with fellow team members to improve student outcomes.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and receive regular supervision.

Focus Areas

  • Academic Performance Coaching: Provide tailored support to boost academic achievement, develop effective study habits, and foster a love for lifelong learning.
  • Diverse Learning Strategies: Implement customized strategies to empower students with varied learning needs, leveraging their unique strengths while addressing challenges through the WHILDE Method.
  • Executive Function Development: Offer targeted coaching to improve organizational skills, time management, and strategic planning, enabling students to navigate executive function challenges and excel both academically and personally.

Qualifications

  • Educational Credentials: A Master's degree or higher in education or a related discipline. Exceptional candidates with a Bachelor's degree and significant experience will also be considered.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in coaching students with diverse cognitive abilities.
  • Technological Skills: Proficient in using technology, including email, online databases, Google Suite, educational platforms, applications, and video conferencing tools.

Compensation

We offer a contracted employment arrangement with competitive compensation ranging from $40.00 to $50.00 per student session hour, inclusive of preparation and documentation time.
