About the Role

Calspan is seeking an experienced Associate Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Flight Operations Team, you will be responsible for designing and substantiating aircraft modifications and installations to support advanced flight research projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and lead the fabrication and integration of prototype test articles and aircraft modifications
  • Develop and execute strategies for achieving airworthiness approval for aircraft modifications
  • Provide engineering leadership in the sustainment and evolution of Calspan's fleet of experimental aircraft
  • Mentor engineers in the application of mechanical design and engineering principles
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 9+ years of experience in the design and analysis of structural components, preferably aircraft structures or aircraft mechanical systems
  • Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software, finite element analysis, and classical structural analysis methods
  • Experience with hydraulic system and component design, engineering team leadership, and mentoring
