POSITION SUMMARY

In a clinical outpatient environment, the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) autonomously executes medical functions in accordance with APRN/NP licensure standards. This role emphasizes delivering extensive nursing and medical care to individuals, families, and communities, prioritizing health promotion and the prevention of illness.

The APRN/NP plays a pivotal role in providing leadership and consultation, collaborating with patients, families, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to enhance patient care outcomes. This position also involves recognizing and addressing the specific educational and learning requirements of patients and their families, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge necessary for informed health decisions.

Furthermore, the APRN/NP is accountable for fostering a secure and effective environment for both patients and staff, managing daily operations in a financially responsible manner. The commitment to continuous personal and professional development is paramount, with the APRN/NP actively identifying learning opportunities and establishing goals for ongoing growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:
  • Master's degree from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
EXPERIENCE/SKILL SETS:
  • Leading to certification in Adult, Family, or Pediatric practice.
  • Preferred two years of nursing experience prior to obtaining an advanced degree.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION(S):
  • Current licensure as an APRN by the State of Vermont.
  • Certification as an adult, family, or pediatric nurse practitioner by a nationally recognized organization, acknowledged by the Vermont State Board of Nursing preferred.
  • Eligibility for credentialing by the BMH Medical Staff.
  • Healthcare Provider CPR certification.
  • DEA license.
