Role Overview:

The Practical Nurse Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting clinical staff by preparing patients for appointments, assisting during examinations, and maintaining a clean and organized environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide patients on specimen collection and perform various clinical tasks, including ECGs, spirometry, nebulizer treatments, and wound care.
  • Administer immunizations and medications, both orally and via injection, and conduct eye and hearing examinations.
  • Provide discharge instructions regarding medical equipment and medications, acting as a patient advocate.

Success Factors:

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to communicate sensitive information in a respectful manner while adhering to all confidentiality regulations. A positive attitude, adaptability, and strong customer service skills are essential.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current New York State LPN license.
  • Two years of recent experience in an ambulatory care or clinic setting.
  • Experience with electronic health record management systems.
  • CPR-BLS certification required within one year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a college health or adolescent care setting.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
