Assistant Store Supervisor

The Assistant Store Manager plays a pivotal role in the success of our stores, driving sales growth, improving store operations, and building strong teams. As a key member of the store leadership team, you will be responsible for maintaining high store standards, leading associates to achieve store goals, and contributing to delivering exceptional customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Elevate the in-store experience by modeling exceptional customer service behaviors and coaching associates to achieve store goals.
- Maintain DSW store standards, ensuring all tasks are completed related to daily open/close, including store cleaning, recovery, and maintenance standards.
- Achieve and exceed metric-based goals by reviewing and clearly communicating daily/weekly/monthly targets. Able to communicate business trends to Store Manager/Leader.
- Review daily communication, plan, and assign tasks throughout the day/week/month, following through with required actions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager or other leaders.
- Supervise leads (and may participate) in planning and executing all inventory management-related activities, including freight receipt, placement, markdown, and MOOS.
- Responsible for all omni-activities in-store, including Charge/Send, BOPIS/BOSTS, Delivery.
- Leverage inventory reports to maximize productivity and merchandise presentation on the sales floor.
- Ensure a safe environment for both customers and associates, checking equipment regularly to guarantee optimal performance.
- Maintain supply inventory to facilitate successful floor moves, markdowns, and fulfillment in stockroom, cashwrap, clearance, and non-sales areas.
- Complete all information related to audits, donations, transfers, mismates, damages, etc.
- Support the Store Manager in implementing DSW's Mission, Vision & Strategy in the store.
- Work closely with the Store Manager to understand and follow policy and procedure.
- Assist the Store Manager and other leaders in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding candidates.
- Support team development by training, coaching, directing associates, and communicating development feedback to the management team efficiently.
- Assist the Store Manager in resolving associate relations matters.
- Participate in the Performance Review process by writing and conducting Associate and Leads performance reviews.
- Support team in managing payroll and associate timekeeping activities.
- Recognize associates through company recognition tools.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Excellent customer service demonstrated by a positive attitude and enthusiasm.
- Ability to manage ambiguity to resolve internal and external conflicts.
- Capacity to develop collaborative working relationships.
- Ability to recognize critical elements and take action.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to train, coach, develop, and motivate others.
- Capacity to hold team accountable to time-bound expectations.
- Availability to meet business needs, including shifts outside traditional hours.
- Proficiency in basic computer use, including Microsoft Office.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years retail experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Some college education preferred.
- High school graduate or equivalent minimum requirement.
