Position Overview

The Nuclear Pharmacy Technician is responsible for executing laboratory and pharmacy-related tasks under the close supervision of a licensed Nuclear Pharmacist. This role requires working in a controlled environment with potential exposure to radiation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out tasks related to the compounding, dispensing, and distribution of radiopharmaceuticals, including data entry for end-of-day and daily dose management reports.
  • Ensure adherence to USP standards, proposed regulations, and relevant state pharmacy laws, maintaining a valid personal license.
  • Complete cGMP documentation as necessary within SOFIE's Quality Management System.
  • Follow aseptic procedures as per internal protocols, customer specifications, and FDA regulations, including gowning, cleaning, and environmental monitoring.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment.
  • Execute radiation safety protocols in accordance with SOFIE's Corporate Radiation Compliance Program and site licensing requirements.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service related to radiopharmaceuticals to healthcare professionals and clients, including:
    • Processing customer orders as permitted by state regulations.
    • Responding to customer inquiries.
    • Documenting pharmacy and customer complaints and notifying the pharmacist promptly.
  • Manage inventory effectively by:
    • Maintaining appropriate levels of production, quality control, and cleaning supplies.
    • Conducting inventory reporting.
    • Performing material acceptance in line with standard operating procedures.
    • Cleaning both classified and non-classified areas as per SOPs.
    • Conducting environmental monitoring of classified areas according to SOPs.
    • Completing cGMP documentation and assisting with quality assurance as needed.
  • Participate in internal meetings as required.
  • Perform other assigned duties as necessary.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma is required; an associate's degree in chemistry, engineering, or natural sciences is preferred (as applicable to state laws).
  • Pharmacy Technician Licensure or Certification as mandated by state law.
  • Experience in sterile compounding and aseptic operations is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite is required.
  • Willingness to work various shifts and weekends is essential.
  • Detail-oriented, accountable, patient, organized, and capable of working in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with colleagues and clients, demonstrating excellent attention to detail, dependability, and responsibility in a fast-paced, technical setting.
  • Physical capability to lift approximately 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5% as required.
