About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Technician to join our team at Oceans Behavioral Hospital DeRidder. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting the nursing staff in maintaining a therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and professional standard for patient care, adhering to Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, and Oceans' policies and procedures.
  • Implement patient care activities under the direction and supervision of licensed nursing personnel, including vital signs, weights, ADL, intake and output documentation, and nutritional monitoring.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Participate in patient education and support, promoting independence and self-advocacy.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to identify and address patient needs, ensuring a comprehensive and individualized approach to care.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent with CNA certification or at least 6 months of prior bedside, direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations, utilizing Age, Disability, and Cultural Specific knowledge in working with specialized populations.
  • Must be in good physical and mental health, with a warm empathetic attitude, respect for dignity, worth, and potentiality of clients, and a high sense of personal integrity.
