Position Purpose: Under the direct supervision of a certified educator, assist professional staff in supporting students within the classroom to achieve educational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate and support students in reinforcing skills in reading, language arts, mathematics, and technology.
  • Work with students both individually and in small groups to strengthen foundational learning and implement designated programs.
  • Assist educators in administering and grading classroom assignments, tests, and evaluations.
  • Help prepare classroom materials and strategies tailored to individual student needs.
  • Maintain accurate records to document student progress and performance.
  • Support classroom management to reduce disruptions, ensure a safe environment, and keep students focused.
  • Supervise students in non-instructional settings, including lunch programs, bus duty, and playground activities.
  • Accompany students on educational trips to assist with supervision.
  • Prepare, duplicate, and distribute educational resources as necessary.
  • Assist teachers with parent communication to encourage effective parental involvement in student education.
  • Support students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction to enhance inclusion and meet IEP objectives.
  • Participate in the IEP process and serve as a resource for student evaluations as needed.
  • Assist students with physical or mental disabilities in daily living activities to promote their participation in educational experiences.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while providing assistance to all students, including those with disabilities or special needs.

Physical and Mental Demands:
  • Work in standard office and school environments.
  • Ability to work outdoors during student activities.
Qualifications:
  • A combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge for successful performance is required.

Typical qualifications include:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of college-level coursework or passing of examinations as required by educational standards.
  • Prior experience working with special needs children is preferred.
