Position Overview
The Infrastructure Solutions Engineer is a key member of the Infrastructure and Operations Team, tasked with delivering comprehensive on-site support for physical servers, storage systems, and network configurations.
This role encompasses responsibilities for the Global Enterprise Infrastructure, ensuring that all systems align with the organization's strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
The Infrastructure Solutions Engineer will:
- Establish performance goals and oversee the server, storage, and network infrastructure to meet operational requirements.
- Plan, implement, monitor, and maintain the server, storage, backup, archival, and recovery systems within the global enterprise environment.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of cloud-based service models, including Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
This position also emphasizes the importance of fostering collaborative relationships between the IT team and various business units.
Technical Expertise
The Infrastructure Solutions Engineer will provide essential IT infrastructure knowledge and support to executive leadership and operational teams as needed. Collaboration with the Systems Architect may be required to identify technological enhancements for process owners.
Additional Duties
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Engaging with plant technology to apply IT solutions that fulfill business needs.
- Maintaining IT infrastructure technologies (Server, Storage, Network, Cloud) at the designated location.
- Supporting global business initiatives in conjunction with the International Infrastructure team.
- Partnering with site leadership to comprehend business requirements related to IT infrastructure.
- Identifying trends in problem management and conducting root cause analysis.
- Automating non-value-added manual tasks to minimize team workload.
- Collaborating with the Project Management Office (PMO) to strategize the testing and delivery of technology solutions.
- Prioritizing and executing tasks as assigned by internal and project leadership.
Operational Management
Utilize and maintain the enterprise ticketing system to document work and uphold expected incident management and service level agreements.
When necessary, ensure timely escalation of client issues.
Technical Support
Perform Level 1 analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of technical problems for a diverse range of end users, including identifying, testing, and implementing corrective hardware solutions.
Maintain global asset tracking for infrastructure technologies and manage vendor licensing for all supported components.
Development and Training
Develop standard, repeatable build images for server and network technologies, conduct patching of operating systems, firmware, and other security-related tasks.
Generate and maintain training documentation for all supported components and provide ongoing training to system engineers and administrators.
Offer on-call, off-hours, and weekend support as assigned, while also providing direct or indirect supervision to team members.
Perform other related duties as necessary.
