Job Summary

The County of Sacramento is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Auditor-Controller to lead the Auditor-Controller Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and reviewing all phases of the county-wide financial accounting and reporting, auditing, and payroll for the County of Sacramento.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, supervise, and direct the activities of the Auditor-Controller Division.
  • Interpret, explain, and apply generally accepted accounting and auditing principles.
  • Analyze fiscal problems and develop and implement effective solutions.
  • Develop, modify, and install accounting systems and procedures.
  • Maintain effective relationships with employees, County departments, the public, and outside agencies.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in accounting, economics, finance, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field.
  • Progressively responsible accounting or auditing experience, including five years of responsible management-level supervisory and administrative experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from the State of California Board of Accountancy.
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
  • Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO).
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
  • Certified Management Accountant.
