Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer

Join Raytheon Careers as a Senior Electrical Engineer and contribute to the design, development, and validation of power and actuation subsystems for various radar systems and other defense applications.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer with expertise in motion control to support the execution of product development projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and evaluating servo control hardware and/or software solutions to meet system operational and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop models and controllers for actuation systems, including mechanical subsystems
  • Establish performance, stability, and control metrics, along with the algorithms necessary to achieve them
  • Define tasks and provide direction to junior-level engineering and support staff
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to execute engineering excellence and meet business objectives
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM major
  • Experience in modeling and simulation using PSPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar computer-based tools
  • Experience with actuation systems, fan/pump motor applications, or grid-tied bidirectional converters, including feedback sensing and protections
  • Experience with 1-100 kW systems, bus voltages in the range of VDC
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM major
  • Familiarity with IGBT- or MOSFET-based power electronics inverters used as motor drives, including rectifier front end
  • Familiarity with induction and permanent magnet electric machines
  • Prior experience as engineering Team Lead (hardware, electrical, or integration)
  • Hands-on experience with PWM or SVM for voltage modulation in power electronics inverters
  • Hands-on experience with software (i.e., FPGA) implementation of vector controllers for electric machines
