Job Summary:We are looking for a skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care to detainees. The successful candidate will have a strong background in nursing, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:- Attend sick call with physicians to assess detainees and provide medical care.
- Prepare examining rooms and equipment, and maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Administer medication, document treatment, and maintain accurate medical records.
- Examine and assess detainees with illnesses or injuries, and refer them to the emergency room as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of medical records, and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor and record detainee behavior, and assess and triage as needed.
- Inspect medical units for contraband and securely store or dispose of supplies and equipment.
- Perform work on an on-call basis, and provide health counseling and education as required.
- Prepare and maintain narrative, statistical, summary, and operational records, reports, and logs.
- Degree in nursing and current, valid nursing license for the state of Texas or a compact state.
- Current CPR certification and ability to work within Texas state board of nursing scope of practice.
- Valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.
