As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a vital role in our laboratory team, assisting with specimen collection, processing, and testing. Your attention to detail and strong communication skills will ensure that our patients receive accurate and timely results.
Responsibilities
Assist laboratory personnel with specimen collection, processing, and testing
Ensure specimens are obtained and handled in accordance with laboratory guidelines
Demonstrate proper communication skills to relate pertinent data or information about the patient or laboratory sample to appropriate care providers
Follow proper protocols for specimen packaging and transport
Perform patient registration, lab test ordering, specimen receipt, accessioning, processing, and distribution according to protocol
Maintain proper infection control practices and patient identification
Perform drug screen collection and processing as assigned
Monitor phlebotomy draw lists and assign/dispatch phlebotomists as needed
Perform courier duties as assigned
Assist in preparing laboratory equipment for testing
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
Basic Life Support certification through either American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Certification from a nationally recognized agency as a phlebotomist or medical lab assistant within 2 years of hire date
Experience working in a clinical setting
