Job Description

Overview

GeekSI is seeking a skilled Manual Tester to join our team. As a Manual Tester, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of our software products by identifying and reporting defects.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze system specifications to identify testing requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Business Analysts, Test Engineers, and Test Planners/Managers, to develop effective testing strategies and plans
  • Write manual test scripts to test requirements and perform system regression testing
  • Execute test cases and analyze results to identify defects
  • Evaluate product code against specifications to ensure compliance
  • Create logs to document testing phases and defects
  • Report bugs and errors to development teams
  • Help troubleshoot issues and provide technical support
  • Conduct post-release and post-implementation testing to ensure software quality
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Configure necessary hardware and operating environments as needed to complete assigned testing
  • Manage the defect database and track defects to resolution
  • Fix defects and ensure timely resolution
  • Understand customer needs and value the importance of delivering high-quality software
  • Take care of and encourage other team members
  • Deliver software that meets or exceeds customer expectations, verified during sprint reviews

Requirements

  • Must currently reside in the US
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other Information Technology major (Or equivalent work experience)
  • Minimum of 2 years of Manual Testing experience
  • 2+ years' experience as a Manual Tester
  • Experience writing test scripts based on acceptance criteria
  • Experience testing APIs/web services integration between applications
  • Experience running test scripts and documenting results, including documenting defects
  • Experience participating in daily scrum meetings with users and developers to report and suggest resolution to issues discovered during testing
  • Experience in a technical business systems analyst position with a proven track record to work under pressure and deliver
  • Experience operating within an Agile development methodology

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, MBA or related field
  • Experience using JIRA and Azure Dev Ops
  • Experience using Rational ClearCase and ClearQuest
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with IBM Rational Functional Tester and IBM Performance Tester
