Responsibilities and Qualifications

">
  • Perform complex cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repair/replacement, and thoracic surgeries.
  • Collaborate closely with cardiologists, pulmonologists, and other specialists to deliver coordinated, high-quality patient care.
  • Participate actively in the development of clinical protocols, quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety programs.
  • Engage in patient education, ensuring clear communication about procedures, risks, and post-operative care.
  • Contribute to the education and mentorship of residents and medical students, if applicable.
  • Maintain an active role in community outreach and promoting Houston Methodist's mission of unparalleled patient care.

  • Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
  • Valid Texas medical license (or eligibility to obtain one).
  • 3-5 years of post-fellowship experience in cardiothoracic surgery.
  • Proven expertise in advanced surgical techniques and minimally invasive approaches is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
