Job Summary

The Clinical Administrator is a key member of the MedStar Health leadership team, responsible for directing and supervising clinical and administrative resources to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. This role requires a strong clinical background, leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to achieve organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assume clinical and administrative supervision of nursing and patient care services for multiple units or departments, ensuring adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with nursing and hospital administration, senior medical staff, and other nurse leaders to address operational issues, staffing, and management of assigned areas.
  • Create a professional atmosphere and environment of coaching and development that supports shared governance, interdisciplinary collaboration, and high patient and associate satisfaction.
  • Investigate and follow through on patient complaints and safety events, ensuring a culture of safety and quality.
  • Assist nurse leaders in selecting, training, and orienting department personnel, contributing to the development of standards of performance and evaluating associate performance.
  • Manage materials, equipment, and supply activities, ensuring adequate availability and utilization, and communicating needs to departmental leaders.
  • Coordinate with capacity management and admissions departments to strategize patient flow, identify empty beds, and communicate with environmental services as necessary.
  • Monitor high-risk patients and complicated conditions, ensuring compliance with unit, divisional, and hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and evaluate patient care services interventions during assigned shifts, intervening where necessary to assure optimal patient care outcomes.
  • Maintain a professional, patient-first atmosphere and environment of coaching and development that supports shared decision making, interdisciplinary collaboration, and high patient and associate satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree in Nursing or health-related field preferred.
  • 3-4 years of progressive nursing care experience required; leadership and management experience preferred.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in Maryland required; CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required.
