Job Description and Duties

The Department of Transportation is seeking a highly skilled Transportation Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of our transportation infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess materials and make engineering decisions to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Conduct laboratory test result analysis and provide expertise on construction operations and inspections.
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders to successfully complete projects.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously and provide materials engineering expertise.
Working Conditions:

As a Transportation Engineer, you will work in a climate-controlled office and be required to travel and perform fieldwork. You will be exposed to dirt, uneven surfaces, extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, and odor associated with fieldwork. You may also be exposed to the motoring public.

Requirements:
  • A valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license when operating a State-owned or leased vehicle.
  • Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required.
