Communication Skills Specialist for Patient Care

We are seeking a skilled Communication Skills Specialist to join our team at ECHN. This role plays a vital part in providing high-quality patient care by evaluating and treating patients to improve or restore their speech and language function.

About the Role

As a Speech Therapist, you will evaluate patients based on departmental standards, conduct and modify evaluations as needed, and establish individualized goals for each patient. You will also treat patients with appropriate therapeutic techniques, administer physical agents and manual therapy, and educate patients and families in home exercise programs.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will determine when a patient has achieved maximal benefit from treatment and recommend discharge if appropriate. You will also document patient progress in accordance with insurance guidelines and adhere to departmental policies and procedures.

Requirements
  • A graduate of an accredited program in Speech Language Pathology with a minimum of a M.S. degree
  • Holds current Connecticut license for Speech Language Pathology and Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association
  • Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Basic personal computer skills in the use of Windows-based programs such as Word, Outlook, and Excel
