Overview
This role is situated within the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, specifically in the Operations Branch of the Personnel Security Division.

As a Security Operations Analyst, your primary responsibilities will include the auditing, tracking, reporting, and oversight of assignments and ongoing cases related to background investigations.

Key Responsibilities
The following duties are expected for this position:

If selected at a lower grade, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills through training and hands-on experience.

As a Security Operations Analyst, you will:

  • Assist in evaluating position sensitivity for all applicants, current employees, and contractors to ensure compliance, as well as reviewing and approving all Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIP) within required timelines.
  • Review Statements of Work to assess contract risk levels, collaborate with the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) to confirm risk designations when necessary, and oversee the initiation of appropriate investigations for all low-risk, public trust, and national security applicants, contractors, and employees.
  • Analyze derogatory or conflicting information from personnel security application documents and Special Agency Checks (SAC) reports, seek additional information from individuals to clarify discrepancies, evaluate the overall information gathered, and provide recommendations.
  • As directed by the division manager, update the Operations Branch policies and procedures through manuals and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the personnel security program.
  • Conduct special studies, prepare findings, and recommend new policies, procedures, or modifications related to the Personnel Security Program, as well as assist or coordinate other special projects pertinent to the Division.
Requirements
To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following conditions:

Experience may be gained in public, private sectors, or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

Qualifications
You must meet the following qualifications by the closing date of this announcement:

For the GS-09 level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience includes:
  • Applying personnel security principles, concepts, and methods to execute assignments.
  • Assisting in gathering background information from contractors, current employees, or new hires for the issuance, suspension, denial, or revocation of security clearances.
  • Providing technical guidance regarding the personnel security process.

Alternatively, you may qualify with a Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or a combination of experience and education.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet any applicable time-in-grade requirements.
