Job Title: Microbiology Manager

CPS, Inc. (Food & Beverage Division) is seeking a highly skilled Microbiology Manager to oversee the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) across four locations in the U.S. and Canada. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing microbiological results, tracking trends, and communicating data to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the EMP program, including ATP, air sampling, water testing, and indicator/pathogen swabbing.
  • Develop and implement the food safety plan in compliance with regulatory, customer, and other guidelines.
  • Report non-conformance results to leadership and other teams with a sense of urgency.
  • Establish monitoring sites, identify harborage sites, and conduct root-cause investigations.
  • Track and trend EMP data.
  • Support continuous improvement projects associated with QA departmental goals.
  • Assist sister facilities in establishing EMP programs and tracking/trending micro programs.
  • Train and monitor employees on GMPs, aseptic sampling, and swabbing techniques.
  • Collaborate with facilities, maintenance, and sanitation teams on CAPA EMP action items.
  • Conduct internal auditing on sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Work with sanitation chemical suppliers on employee training and identifying areas to improve in cleaning practices.
  • Write and revise SOPs, policies, and procedures on microbiological programs.
  • Oversee 3rd party lab testing on validation studies and shelf-life studies on new and existing products.
  • Maintain lab files, lab log spreadsheets, Certificates of Analysis, and Certificate of Quality Letters.
  • Maintain a Microbiological Testing Registry to identify required microbiological analysis for each finished product.
  • Ensure facilities are maintained and all duties are performed in compliance with all applicable food safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Food Science or microbiology discipline.
  • 3 years of experience in a food safety, laboratory, or manufacturing environment with emphasis on microbiological testing and analysis.
  • Ability/willingness to travel up to 25%-50% of the time within the U.S. and Canada.
  • Experience in supervising and training a wide array of employees.
  • Proficient language skills in English and Spanish.
  • Proficient in writing and communicating reports to Senior Leadership teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of USDA and FDA regulations, GMPs, GFSI Audits, SSOPs, SOPs.
  • PCQI Certification or completion within 4 months of hire.
