Position Overview

The role of a Combination Welder involves extensive industrial welding expertise within a petrochemical or similar industrial fabrication environment. Candidates should possess the capability to read and interpret blueprints, ISO documents, field drawings, and material takeoffs, which is considered advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute welding tasks on various metals utilizing techniques such as SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW.
  • Ensure the selection, setup, and staging of appropriate equipment, ensuring all tools and materials are adequately supplied and operational.
  • Conduct thorough checks on the fit of pipes or structural components to guarantee proper attachment.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety and attention to detail throughout all tasks.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment welding assessments as part of the onboarding process.

Qualifications

  • Proven industrial welding experience, particularly with GTAW and SMAW.
  • Ability to pass manual welding procedure tests for GTAW and SMAW.
  • Possession of a current Basic Orientation Plus (Safety Council Card) or renewal within three months.
  • Valid TWIC card required.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in the welding trade.
  • Adherence to specified welding procedures and industry standards.
  • Commitment to following established safety protocols and maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Proficient use of hand and power tools for measuring, cutting, assembling, welding, and installing various piping systems.
  • Deliver high-quality work that meets project specifications and industry benchmarks.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, and lift for extended periods.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and listening, with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Manual dexterity for precise adjustments of machinery components.
  • Capability to lift, carry, and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work at heights, including climbing ladders and platforms, with proper fall protection measures.
  • Visual acuity to focus on tasks at varying distances and recognize colors and depth.
  • Adaptability to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions for prolonged periods.
  • Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, masks, safety vests, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
