SUMMARY
The Transportation Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the educational framework by ensuring safe and efficient transportation for children enrolled in the program. This position is crucial in fostering a nurturing environment that promotes social and intellectual development for young learners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with teaching staff to plan and execute daily activities that enhance the learning experience.
  • Establishes positive relationships with families to support their children's development.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation related to transportation and child attendance.
  • Participates in training sessions to stay updated on best practices and program standards.
  • Assists in implementing educational goals and objectives in alignment with program standards.
  • Takes charge of the classroom in the absence of the teacher, ensuring a continuous learning environment.
  • Supports the assessment of children's progress and development.
  • Conducts daily health checks and ensures the safety of children during transportation.
  • Supervises children in various settings, including classrooms, hallways, and outdoor areas.
  • Facilitates data entry and documentation related to transportation activities.
  • Drives the Head Start bus or serves as a monitor to ensure safe transport of children.


Secondary Responsibilities

  • Accompanies teaching staff on home visits as required.

Educational Environment

Supports the holistic development of children by integrating educational activities that foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills. QUALIFICATIONS
To successfully perform this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill essential duties effectively. The qualifications outlined below represent the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or equivalent, along with relevant experience in early childhood education or a related field, is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and communicate effectively in various settings.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to perform basic mathematical operations as required for record-keeping and documentation.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense in following instructions and addressing challenges that arise in the educational environment.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Must pass annual health screenings and comply with safety regulations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain necessary certifications related to child care and transportation.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Demonstrates proficiency in understanding program standards and operating necessary equipment for the role.
