Position Summary
This role involves the assessment and treatment of patients requiring speech therapy services. The Speech Language Pathologist will develop and implement tailored treatment plans based on physician referrals, ensuring collaboration with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough evaluations and create individualized treatment programs aimed at achieving specific patient goals.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to enhance recovery and ensure safety.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation in accordance with established standards and protocols.
- Contribute to hospital quality and safety initiatives by adhering to treatment guidelines.
- Adapt communication and treatment approaches to meet the diverse needs of the patient population.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
Qualifications
Education:
Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology is required.
Experience:
No prior experience is necessary; however, experience in a clinical or hospital environment is preferred.
Licensure:
Must possess a current Speech Pathologist license in the state of practice or be eligible for licensure by examination or reciprocity. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is also required.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in the use of technology and software applications relevant to patient care.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information effectively to various audiences.
- Excellent judgment and decision-making capabilities, particularly in patient care scenarios.
- Interpersonal skills that foster collaboration and trust within the healthcare team.
- Willingness to travel between facilities as needed.
Physical Requirements
This position may require the ability to exert physical effort, including lifting and moving patients or equipment. The work environment involves direct patient interaction and exposure to various health-related risks.
