The Senior Automotive Technician plays a crucial role in diagnosing and servicing automotive systems.
Compensation:
$29.43 per hour
Our technicians benefit from a performance-based compensation model known as flat-rate pay.
This structure rewards skilled professionals with a set amount for each eligible task, promoting efficiency and quick task completion, ensuring fair compensation for expertise and commitment.
These rates reflect average productivity across regions.Key Responsibilities
- Customer and Vehicle Service (85%)
Conduct road tests on vehicles before and after service work.
Perform inspections on assigned vehicles following BSRO procedures (according to M.A.P. Guidelines) and report findings to service management.
Assist in diagnostic activities. - Clearly communicate mechanical diagnoses and necessary repairs to non-technical individuals, including teammates and supervisors as needed.
- Perform tasks within areas of qualification, including brakes, electrical systems, engine performance, engine repair, heating/air conditioning, suspension/steering, automatic transmissions/transaxles, and manual drivetrains and axles.
- Keep management informed of mechanical repair issues as they arise.
- Perform additional duties as assigned for the efficient management of the store, such as removing, mounting, and installing tires, shock absorbers, batteries, and other automotive supplies and services; loading and unloading trucks with items weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Drive company vehicles to transport supervisors or automotive parts.
- Maintain proficiency in BSRO methods, standards, and procedures.
- Continuously update technical knowledge and skills through formal training sessions to enhance proficiency in automotive diagnosis and repair.
- Maintain A.S.E. certifications and air conditioning certifications as required.
- Ensure state inspection licenses are current as necessary.
- Complete and maintain BSRO certifications.
- Adhere to all applicable BSRO Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Policies.
- Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and appearance of the service department.
- Review maintenance and operational efficiency of tools and store equipment, such as engine diagnostic equipment, alignment machines, and brake lathes. Contact qualified repair vendors for maintenance as needed.
- Comply with company safety policies and federal/state OSHA safety requirements, including wearing approved eye protection and following proper lifting techniques.
- Attend meetings as required by management.
- Assist in providing on-the-job training for newly hired technicians.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Store Manager, Service Manager, or Manager of Vehicle Services.
Responsibilities may include:
- Handling tire deliveries, which can range from 90 to 400 tires weekly.
- Performing various automotive services, including oil changes, alignments, and brake services.
- Utilizing hand, power, and air tools to perform repairs.
- Maintaining a valid automobile driver's license and being able to drive company vehicles.
Work conditions may vary, including exposure to cold and hot environments, as well as slippery surfaces.
Individuals must possess reading, writing, and math skills, along with a minimum of 3 years of automotive repair experience or equivalent vocational training.
A.S.E. certification in at least three of A1-A8 is preferred, with the acceptance of equivalent external qualifications or training certifications.
Maintaining federal, state, and local certifications/licenses where applicable is essential.
Effective communication of technical information to non-technical individuals is required.
